Career Story from China’s 20TH anniversary: Hualu Zhou’s 20-year journey of growth and commitment

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Fibox’s Guangzhou factory in China, we want to share the career story of a long-standing Fibox employee, Hualu Zhou, who has built a remarkable 20-year career at Fibox in injection molding, developing production processes and driving efficiency and quality improvements.

Early career and professional experience

Hualu’s journey in injection molding began with his very first role in the field, and he has stayed on that path ever since.

My first job was in the injection-molding sector. It aroused my interest, and continuous learning plus skill improvement convinced me to stay in this field, he recalls.

His technical curiosity and dedication to mastering his craft soon became the foundation of his professional development. Along the way, I gained far deeper knowledge of molding and expanded my expertise in tooling, he notes.

He joined Fibox in 2005 through an unexpected opportunity and quickly found a workplace where he could fully apply and expand his expertise. Over the years, he advanced from molding team leader to project trial-mold engineer, and finally to injection molding supervisor.

Leading production at Fibox

In his current role as Injection Molding Supervisor, Hualu is responsible for monitoring production in the injection molding department, resolving quality issues, optimizing processes, and training staff. He collaborates closely with PMC (Production Material Control), Tooling, Project, and Quality departments.

Collaboration is usually smooth; occasional quality issues are solved through well-coordinated communication, he explains.

In the short term, he focuses on improving production yield and shortening cycle times, while his long-term goal is to achieve higher automation and efficiency across the department.

Challenges and key achievements

During his career, Hualu has overcome several operational challenges, including limited floor space that once hindered material flow.

To address the lack of space and limited walkways that once made material handling difficult, we removed one assembly step. Parts are now processed directly into finished products beside the molding machines and transferred straight to the warehouse, significantly reducing work-in-progress space, he says.

One of his proudest achievements was a Six Sigma project conducted with the Quality and Tooling teams.

We optimized the mold, lifted yield, shortened the cycle time, and saved the company nearly 200,000 RMB, Hualu recalls.

Support, learning and growth

Fibox has provided Hualu with strong support and development opportunities throughout his career. Fibox has offered excellent training and strong backing from leaders. This has broadened my knowledge and opened my perspective, he says.

He values the cooperative spirit and culture of mutual support at Fibox. Passion for the job and smooth cooperation with other departments allow me to continuously improve within the Fibox team, he explains.

Hualu considers teamwork and strong leadership essential to Fibox’s success, emphasizing the importance of helping one another and working by shared principles.

Wellbeing and life beyond work

Outside of work, Hualu enjoys hiking, climbing, and playing badminton. Regular outdoor exercise keeps me fit and energetic, he says.

He also maintains balance through an optimistic mindset. When I feel stressed, I go running, take a short trip, or listen to relaxing music, he adds.

Fibox supports employee wellbeing through annual health check-ups, team-building events, and care programs for those in need.
