Career Story from Finland: Spotlight on our IT Specialist Teemu Hassinen
Teemu Hassinen joined Fibox as an IT trainee in January 2025 and has since become a valued and respected member of the IT team. He has been recognized for his dedicated work and has provided significant support across various functions at Fibox. Although Teemu’s career is still in its early stages, he has already developed extensive skills through a strong interest in IT, proactivity and a continuous desire to learn.
How it all began
Teemu started his IT studies in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in 2020. As part of his studies, he completed a five-month internship at Fibox within the IT team. The internship included diverse, hands-on tasks such as transferring data between systems, mapping server environments, setting up Teams channels, developing a QR code application, and improving intranet pages. Through these tasks, Teemu quickly gained a comprehensive understanding of Fibox’s IT environment.
The internship served as a springboard toward a full IT specialist role. After the initial onboarding period, Teemu quickly became involved in projects and took on responsible tasks. Toward the end of the internship, he began developing an AI solution to support the handling of sales orders, aiming to reduce manual work for the customer service team. The project sparked a strong interest in AI and also became the topic of his thesis. It caught my interest, and I thought it would be a good direction to pursue, Teemu recalls.
Implementing the project required independent research, experimentation, and problem-solving. At first, the overall picture wasn’t clear, but I progressed step by step. Gradually, I just started doing and looking for information. I received support from the IT team and an Aidico consultant, but largely the project was in my own hands, Teemu explains. The sales order bot is currently in pilot use with customer service teams in Finland and the UK.

Completing studies and continuing at Fibox
Teemu successfully completed his thesis and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, specializing in IT, in December 2025. Even before graduation, he continued at Fibox as a part-time IT team member after his internship ended in summer 2025, and his employment was made permanent at the beginning of 2026. Working at Fibox provided an opportunity to apply his learning in practice and continuously develop his skills.
I’ve always been interested in IT. No two days are the same, and that’s what makes the work rewarding, Teemu notes. His interest in technology is also visible in his free time: he enjoys spending time at the computer and playing fast-paced FPS games such as Counter-Strike with friends. Through gaming, he has built a close circle of friends, and he also enjoys watching series and movies as a break from work.
Development of responsibilities at Fibox
Since graduation, Teemu’s responsibilities have continued to develop. My work in AI has expanded, and and I am currently finalizing a second AI bot, Teemu explains. This bot was created to support ESG work within Fibox Tested Systems’ operations. It can, for example, check whether companies are on EU or UK sanction lists and assess suppliers’ ESG readiness. The bot reviews supplier websites and verifies documentation, including the Code of Conduct. Internal communications about the solution will be shared more broadly once it is fully operational early in the year.
Collaboration and future goals
Teemu collaborates closely not only with the IT team but also with representatives from other functions on their development projects. Collaboration is smooth, and the atmosphere is encouraging. We have a great team spirit. Our biweekly meetings include IT specialists from other countries, such as Poland and China. Working globally adds an interesting dimension to the job, Teemu says.
Currently, Teemu’s clear focus is on AI. His goal is to become an expert in AI solutions and further expand his skills across different technical solutions. Curiosity, continuous learning, and a drive to solve practical problems guide his work – both now and in the future.
