Our Story

The origins of Fibox date to 1966, when it operated as part of the Finnish corporation Fiskars. At that time, the company (then known as Fiskars Enclosure) pioneered the injection molding of polycarbonate for electrical enclosures, creating the world’s first modular plastic enclosures for low-voltage applications. This innovation marked a turning point in electrical panel building and established Fibox as an early technological leader in enclosure solutions.

During its early decades, Fibox products gained recognition for their durability and ability to protect electrical and electronic components in harsh environments. The company’s focus on product development and material innovation helped it build a strong foundation in the global market.

A major turning point came in 1991, when Fibox became an independent company through a management buyout from Fiskars. This transition allowed the company to focus fully on its core business and pursue international growth more aggressively.

Following independence, Fibox expanded rapidly. In the 1990s, it established manufacturing operations outside Finland, including a factory in South Korea, and began building a global sales and distribution network. Over time, the company continued to grow its international presence, setting up subsidiaries and production facilities in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Fibox strengthened its position as a global leader in thermoplastic enclosures. It broadened its product portfolio to include thousands of enclosure solutions made from materials such as polycarbonate, ABS, and aluminium. At the same time, the company expanded into related areas like customized housing solutions and electrical and automation systems, including technologies used in electric vehicle charging.

Today, Fibox remains a family-owned company headquartered in Espoo, Finland, operating in dozens of countries with manufacturing facilities around the world. It has evolved into one of the largest enclosure manufacturers globally, known for combining Nordic design principles with technical innovation and sustainability.
