Allan Schultz Jensen is known for his visionary mindset, strong creative drive, and distinctive sense of humor. Throughout his career, he has combined technical expertise with curiosity and an ability to see opportunities where others see complexity.

When Allan joined Fibox in 2009, he was not a typical product manager. His journey had started decades earlier on construction sites, where he learned the electrical trade through hands-on experience.

“I have been in the electrical business since I was born.”

Growing up as the son of an electrician, Allan was introduced early to the realities of hands-on work. This foundation shaped not only his technical expertise, but also his mindset.

“I’m not a PowerPoint person; I’ve worked with my hands. That makes it easier for me to speak with electricians.”

From hands-on work to first leadership steps

Allan’s career started with formal training as an electrician, followed by further education as an electrical contractor. Alongside his practical path, he pursued studies in organization, management, and even mathematics “just for fun,” as Allan puts it. His curiosity drives him to continuously challenge himself and keep his mind active.

Electricity, however, is what continues to fascinate him.

“What interests me about electricity is that the danger is real if you do it wrong. Mistakes are visible.”

After working a few years as an electrician, he had the opportunity to take on a project leadership role, with responsibilities including contracts, quotations, and quality. A key turning point came when he was entrusted with leading a large project early in his career.

“I realized I was good at leading projects. I was young, but I succeeded.”

This experience opened new doors. During the project, he was approached with an opportunity to move into a product-focused role, which would define the rest of his career.

Transitioning from installation work to product management, Allan began working with electrical components such as enclosures and terminals. Over time, he built experience across several companies and roles.

His career evolved steadily, always staying close to products and their practical use. It was during this time that he became familiar with Fibox and its people, a factor that ultimately influenced his next step.

“That led me to other companies in the industry, including one of our key customers, Lemvigh-Müller. It was there that I met Tapani Niemi, the founder of Fibox, and in 2009 I joined Fibox as Product Manager.”

Choosing Fibox for its family feeling

For Allan, joining Fibox was not just a career move, but a decision based on culture and relationships. The company’s atmosphere stood out immediately.

“People play with people, not divisions with divisions or business cards with business cards. The family feeling was the driver for me, and it still is.”

Over the years, Allan has taken on multiple responsibilities within Fibox, reflecting the flexibility required in a growing, international company.

“I’ve had many roles at Fibox during my 17-year career, but they have all been related to products, such as development, quality, marketing, and product management. We are not a big company, so you have to wear many hats.”

Despite changes in titles and organizational structures, the essence of his work has remained consistent: developing products that meet real customer needs.

Building a global role

Today, Allan works as Director of Cabinets Products in a Products and Innovation organization, leading Fibox’s cabinet product line on a global scale. His role focuses on driving the product line into the next generation by defining, developing, and leading the evolution of cabinet solutions into a new era. The role is both strategic and highly collaborative, with frequent international travel.

“I don’t have normal working hours. I adapt to three continents and their timelines.”

Working in a matrix organization brings its own challenges but also keeps the role engaging and dynamic. Close cooperation with sales, R&D, supply chain, and production is critical.

“You don’t belong to one country or one team, networking and collaboration are essential. Without collaboration, I wouldn’t be able to do my job.”

Allan also values face-to-face interaction, both with colleagues and customers.

“The smile and the connection you get when meeting in person is completely different from communicating online.”

At the same time, he has reflected on how communication culture has changed and what it means for working life.

“It has become very easy to complain on the internet when you don’t see the person behind it. The younger generation also needs to adapt to face-to-face interaction in a different way.”

Always moving forward

Among his many contributions, Allan highlights one achievement in particular.

“I’m most proud of being part of the invention of the ARCA IEC range.”

At the same time, his mindset remains strongly forward-looking.

“No two days are the same and tomorrow can always be better than today. I wake up every Monday believing we can do better.”

A few years ago, Allan was diagnosed with ADHD. The diagnosis did not change how he works, but it helped him better understand himself.

“It didn’t really change anything, but it helped me understand myself better.”

He recognizes that his mind naturally seeks stimulation and operates at a fast pace, which also brings challenges in slower decision-making environments.

“I probably need more input than average, and that shows in my speed. I find it difficult when things move too slowly.”

At the same time, this energy supports his creativity, problem-solving and drive for continuous improvement.

Values that guide the way of working

Throughout his career, one principle has remained constant: the importance of human relationships. This belief is reflected in how he values his colleagues and workplace.

“The best thing about my workplace is my colleagues. I would do everything for them.”

His personal philosophy is simple but consistent: Be honest, be polite, and have fun.

He also emphasizes self-awareness and responsibility for well-being.

“If you don’t feel well, you have to change your life, no one else will do it for you.”

When it comes to career advice, his message is straightforward:

“Follow your gut feeling. If it feels right, you will succeed and have a good life.”

Work and life and the future dream

Outside of work, Allan values time with his family, including his wife, two daughters, and their Border Collie. He stays active by playing badminton in the winter and tennis in the summer, which fits well with his globally mobile role and are activities he enjoys.

He is also open about the challenges of balancing work and personal life.

“I am probably not the best at balancing work and personal life. I always think about cabinets and how to make things easier for the electrician.”

Alongside his professional role, Allan has recently found a new creative outlet in music. Using AI-based tools, he writes lyrics and shapes rhythm and style into complete songs. This creative work often reflects his professional world, especially the ARCA product family.

His latest creation is a song about ARCA T, the newest addition to the range, a reflection of both his enthusiasm and deep connection to product development.

This creative expression has become a natural extension of his professional passion and has been warmly recognized within Fibox.

While Allan remains deeply engaged in his work and the continued development of Fibox’s business, he also has a clear and simple vision for the future.

“My dream is to buy a camper van and travel around Europe when I eventually retire.”

Until then, he continues his work with strong energy and a passion for continuous development.
